What is it used for?

Pathways performs different functions in many different kinds of organisation:

Small OrganisationsSmall organisations

In a small organisation email use is often quite chaotic. Spam and personal use of mail generate a degree of 'noise'.  In this environment, important business-related communications can be overlooked which can cause considerable inefficiencies.  Pathways, by providing an alternate communication route, coupled with a reliable system for reporting the message's delivery and acknowledgement, can remove this obstacle at an extremely low cost.

Medium OrganisationsMedium-sized organisations

One of the problems faced by organisations of an intermediate size (typically fewer than 500 desktops) is targeting communications to selected groups of individuals. For example, perhaps there is a need to reach sales staff in Manchester with a high priority message to arrive at 9:15 the following Tuesday. It takes a matter of moments to target delivery in this way with the Pathways system,  a service for which there is no convienient e-mail based alternative.

Large OrganisationsLarger organisations

Larger organisations can be divided geographically as well as organisationally.  Pathways can be used to broadcast messages throughout the whole group. Some examples might be: as backup meeting reminders, to alert users to a change in corporate policy, or to guide users to interesting changes in the company website.

Due to its lightweight network load and flexible server requirements, Pathways can be added to a corporate network with minimal impact. If security is a consideration, Pathways can be structured to implement high levels of encryption at every step, and is designed to store no information on the client machines.
